Balance. Strength. Alignment. Flexibility
Functional Movement is a system of dynamic, engaging full body training. It is the creation and result of years of movement studies, explorations, injuries, and assessments of my own body and others. It has been created to recognize and address patterns in our bodies that cause pain and discomfort. We treat the body as a whole system in which each part is affected by the other and so on. In order for a body to be fully functional and pain free, it must be balanced: Front to back, side to side, strength with mobility. Our goal is to unwind old patterns and rebalance through creating new ones. We focus on building core strength in ways that our core may have never been used before. We rediscover muscles. We build intentional, long, lean muscles. We use our brains, and therefor change our bodies. We play outside of the box, so that we build our strength inside of the box and our muscles and joints will be prepared for the odd step, the trip, or the awkward save. |
